Hello,
Pending the creation of the “ERIC BARONE FOUNDATION” web site, we invite you to read this.
This Foundation was born thanks the love and sharing of true values between world citizens.
Why Nicaragua?
Simply because everything still needs to be created in this country, one among the poorest countries in the world, with such a delicate situation in terms of security.
Our last stay in Nicaragua allowed us to find out three interesting projects that we synthesize bellow.
Project 1:
A Community reforestation project, namely how to ally reforestation and rising the living standards of the community. It is in the Northwest near the Honduras border, after the city of Ocotal, with 30 000 souls approximately, who live on coffee and timber. That city is water fed by a small river from the Honduras border and passing through a village called Dipilto. The mayor of Dipilto research to protect the watercourse which was partially destroyed by the hurricane Mitch in 1998 (this famous hurricane killed more than 2,000 and caused many victims) and wants to improve the lives of people living on this river by a reforestation project on the 12 km between the border village approximately 1,200 hectares of possible reforestation, (1200 carbon actions).
Project 2:
A project located at the North of Matagalapa towards the Caribbean coast, in the heart of the region's coffee. There we can found lush forests some of them still virgin. An indigenous community “La Tuma” of about 60 families from different ethnicities, exists peacefully for over 10 years. This Community has 750 acres of land including 250 acres reserved for their food (Frijoles-beans, platanos-bannanas and other fruit trees ). Today the remaining 500 acres can not be maintained by "The Tuma" due to the lack of financial means. The project's interest would be the marriage between reforestation aid and paid work for x people of the community responsible for maintenance. This plan would restore a certain value to their land and achieve the much desired financial autonomy. The minimum wage today, either in poor countries as in developed countries, has little meaning, in fact the main idea of this project would be to set an example by showing that wealth can be shared and that both parts would withdraw benefits.
That is why the funding of these projects could come from French companies, for example, (PME/PMI,Business Groups) to search for innovative project ideas, human and environmentally strong to offset their CO2 expenditure.
Life in Nicaragua in these rural areas is not the life of large cities, the average wage does not always exceed $ 60 per month while the cost of living (e.g. : as petrol which costs around $ 1 per liter) risesharply. This two-speed world must be slowed or altered, every citizen on earth should have a project to exist and not only meet its full plate every day and thus give meaning to his life, for example going to the city by bus for a weekend in family, or discover the Pacific- is only 3 hours by bus... and that so few Nicaraguans know.
That is why the Foundation ERIC BARONE is particularly concerned that the project can be linked to the plan presented above to the northwest regions ( Ocotai/Dipilto ), even if only through the provision of surface reforested, which is accumulating, it increase the offer of "carbon actions" to companies looking for this kind of projects. These polluting companies must, from now, buy “carbon actions” to offset their CO2 expenditure in order to balance their public image. It is a way to tell the world, their current clients, their future customers that their products are “clean” for compensation, of course, but also to say that the product has a human story, an adventure to tell... The enhancement of the responsible man ( the businessman and the leader of the community advancing hand in hand...)
With this perspective, the starters in this business adventure, in the medium term, 5 / 10 years, could see their sales rise and boost their unfolding s (not for fad, but by applying a well-developed marketing strategy)
It is simply the “Responsible and Sustainable Development”...
Project 3:
We have also triggered a community meeting in the village of San Jacinto (headquarters of the Foundation ERIC BARONE) which has a severe lack of water. A paradox for this village (known by those little geysers of mud volcano - “Hervideros” ) which has a source of water (about 35 degrees) to 1.5 km, channelled through a pipe coming out of the land, and releases this clear water in nature.
Our future goal is to finance works to bring this water to the upper village to the benefit of local homes in the path of the pipe (not the whole village, sadly!) but also to improve the tourism offer a better service toilets, shower, etc. …because this place, above the village beyond Hervideros, welcomes the departure of some hiking on the volcanoes near, as Cerro Negro and Telica.
In case you would be attracted to learn more about these projects, feel free to leave a message in this e-mail :
